January

Visiting in the North,
a true winter day.
Sunny skies and brisk air,
while sledding on a white mountain.
Grandchildren scream on a gliding red donut.
Laughing all the way, hair in the wind,
grinning ear to ear, letting joy rush in.

Winter painting and puzzles,
New hobbies and journaling.
No goals, but reflection.
Gratitude for friends, family, and health.
Wandering through my favorite book stores
Imagining other worlds and so much more.

Winter desert rain
Watching old movies under cozy blankets
Hot chocolate with marshmallows
While my sugar willpower gently fades
Pine candles, and savoring cottage pie,
the hearth, the hush, the why of time.

I love this winter season
Of soups, teas, and books.
Quiet nights and warm socks
Or winter walks, and long talks.
The busy Christmas schedules are long gone
And time settles in, like a lingering song.
