Fjords of Wonder

June 8, 2026 Scandinavia Trip & Iceland

The ancient glacier, with its icy river, carves the fjords.
Frozen fingers reach down
to the mirror-like water.

The blue-dusk mountain
frames the picturesque villages
from inlet to inlet.

Friends and travelers,
click and pose,
the sea wind on our face,
the towering peaks above us.

In the cabin, we learn facts.
Cutting-edge emission-free silent cruises,
propelled by electric and hybrid systems.

Lovely conversations, hot chocolate and croissants, a rest from our normal rush of tourism.

As we near the famed waterfall,
we file outside again.

Water mists our face, and we laugh.
The splendor of it all, Sagfossen, the 1600-foot rush.

Everywhere we look, the steep mountains rise,
with tiny settlements below,
where imaginary Arendel was born.

Although the fjords are not one of the Seven
Wonders, they are pretty close.

Black mountains enclose me on both sides with a dusky gray sky in the middle.

One life is not enough for all the wonders of the world.
